Dufferin County’s Building Division is ready to support the community with permit applications, document requests, and general information.
Dufferin County provides building services for Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, and Shelburne.
If you are constructing or demolishing in the Town of Orangeville, please visit their website. For zoning information, please reach out to your local Town/Township. Click here for contact information.
Building permits are not required for detached structures that are less than 10m², unless there is plumbing. Even if your project does not require a building permit, zoning approval from your local Town/Township may still be required. Please contact them directly.

Annual Reports
The Building Services Division provides services to 7 municipalities in Dufferin County, encompassing approximately 1,470.7 square kilometres. We ensure all buildings defined under the Ontario Building Code comply with the minimum standards set out by the Province, to protect the health, safety and general welfare as they relate to the construction and occupancy of buildings and structures.
